Did you know that Dates have properties that can help a woman in Labour? If you don’t come on and read this article! You won’t regret finding out these awesome qualities that ease the pain for a woman going through childbirth. It’s almost magical how eating dates can help shorten and make Labour comfortable.
Pains of a natural birth
Labour is one of the most difficult and painful things that women go through to bring new life into the world. Today there are many different medicines which promise to shorten the pain of Labour but even though they give immediate relief they have many side-effects that the new mothers have to live with for the rest of their life.
This is why doctors and healers always recommend a natural birth. Although a natural birth is excruciating for the mother at that moment it is better for both the mother and the baby in the long run. That is not to say that there aren’t home remedies that have been scientifically proven to help Labour along and even shorten it.
One of those scientifically proves home a remedy is the eating of dates before Labour. Dates have been said to reduce the time period of Labour and quicken it.
There are many ways in which eating dates help the excruciating process of Labour and they are as follows:
• Increase Sensitivity of Uterus: Dates have a certain quality to them which helps increase the sensitivity of the uterus and so it is easier for the uterus to stretch while the body is preparing itself for childbirth.
• Contractions: Eating dates can also stimulate and in some cases even induce contractions. For some women, contractions appear very far apart and so the poor women are in Labour for long hours. Dates release a certain hormone within the body which causes a decrease in the time between contractions.
• Postpartum haemorrhage: Dates continue to help even after the childbirth is over and done with. They help in reducing the risk of the new mother going through postpartum haemorrhage much the same way oxytocin does.
Dates are also known to release proteins like fibre, magnesium, natural sugars, folate and Vitamin K, all of which are important proteins for an expectant mother. Dates are one of those God-given fruits that have many hidden properties and it is advised that these properties be used to their fullest.
