Pregnancy Symptoms Before Missed Period

Missing a menstrual cycle is one of the common signs that women rely on to determine if they are pregnant. In fact, most women tend to do a pregnancy test right after they have missed a period. However, there are some obvious telltale signs that you could look out for to detect pregnancy even before you miss your period. Let’s deep dive and take a look at each of these symptoms.

Morning sickness

One of the earliest symptoms of pregnancy is morning sickness. However, morning sickness does not just affect you in the morning, in fact, it can happen at any given time of the day. After conception, your body starts producing more hormones such as human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), progesterone and estrogen, which is why you will experience the dreaded morning sickness.

Fatigue

Along with morning sickness, you will also experience fatigue even if you are not doing much. Your regular day to day workouts would be enough to make you feel swamped. You may feel that even sleeping the recommended 8 hours a day is still not enough. In such a situation, you need to evaluate if you are in fact suffering from nutrient deficiency or if you are pregnant!

Spotting

Spotting is also another sign that many women experience during the early stages of pregnancy. You would notice small amounts of brownish or light pink blood appearing around a week or so before your period is due. This is known as implantation bleeding whereby the egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. The overall process would cause an irritation and hence, result in light bleeding. Some women who are unaware might think that they are having their period, but implantation bleeding is more of an on-off spotting as compared to having a period where it starts off lightly and gets heavier.

Cramping

Cramping is also an early sign of pregnancy. When you are pregnant, the blood supply to all parts of the body increases, causing an increase of blood flow to your uterus. As a result, you might experience cramping which feels like cramps that you experience right before your periods. You would tend to experience these cramps around a week before your period is due.

These are some of the most common symptoms of early pregnancy. You might experience one or more of them before actually missing a cycle of your period. Thus, if you are experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned, it is best do a pregnancy test.
