Your Toddler At 2 Years 7 Months
Less than a year ago, your little one used to utter a single word only. Now, at the age of 2 years and 7 months, your baby is able to improve his vocabulary along with learning new skills. Reading nursery rhymes and improved language skills are some of the common changes that can be observed at this age. This will be the age of hyper activeness, curiosity, interaction, and improved communication skills.
Here are some of the things that should be observed in the development of your toddler at the age of 2 years and 7 months.
Weight and height
In order to ensure the ideal growth of your toddler, it is important to check the weight and height. If your toddler is a boy then the ideal weight and height would be 28 pounds and 34 inches respectively. If your toddler is a girl then the ideal weight and height would be 26.5 pounds and 33 inches respectively.
Toddler’s milestone
At this age, your baby wants to explore new things. You will see him behaving differently due to the changes in the speech, motor activities, interaction, and movement. Here are some of the milestones for your toddler at this age
• Verbal milestones
Verbal milestones include the ability to frequently speak. Your child should be able to use the nouns and pronouns. The interaction ability at this age improves. Your child will be able to follow the verbal directions.
• Movement milestones
At this age, you will see your child running fast along with walking properly. He will be able to pull pants up, wash and dry hands, brush teeth with help, throw the ball, solve various puzzles and learn tricycling. At this age, the motor nerve response improves.
• Cognitive milestones
At this age, everything your child learned has developed his thinking. Your child will be able to develop his confidence and personality. Your child will be able to learn concepts like time and sort objects such as shapes and colors. You will see your child solving problems along with exploring new things.
Health and nutrition
Health and nutrition maintenance is extremely important for the development of your little one. Lack of nutrition might lead to issues such as anemia and dwarfism. Here are some of the tips that should be considered for the health of your baby:
• Feed your child after every two hours with a small portion of the meal that includes vegetables and fruits
• Don’t force your child to finish every meal
• Make sure you add a wide range of food to develop new taste such as vegetables, lean protein, cereals, whole grain bread, etc
• Avoid feeding sugary and processed food. Make sure the diet is healthy
Let your child explore new things. Don’t be too harsh, this is his development phase. Make sure you interact with him with a goal to enhance his confidence, learning skills, and creativity.
